Tomorrow, Ascend (formerly NAASA), a professional organization with members in the finance and accounting field, will be hosting their annual holiday party in San Francisco. But this year, there is a new twist - they have invited several Asian American community and business leaders to speak about their nonprofit experiences and how to effectively give back.
The organization is trying to showcase community organizations such as Self Help For the Elderly, Asian Pacific Fund, and the Asian American Donor Program.
Members hope the event will bring more visibility to the services these organizations provide to the community. Some members of Ascend are already volunteering at these organizations and helping them develop potential donor relationships.
It's great to see the group taking such a proactive approach to giving back.
Speakers at the event tomorrow include:
Ophelia Basgal - Vice President, PG&E, Civic Partnership & Community Initiatives
Mohan Gyani - Vice Chairman, Roamwave and Former EVP & CFO, Air Touch
Doreen Woo Ho - President, Consumer Group & EVP, Wells Fargo Bank
Yul Kwon - Board member, AADP and Winner of Survivor: Cook Islands
David Lei - Vice Chairman, Asian Art Museum and former US Intl Trade Commissioner
Ling-Chi Wang - Retired professor, UC Berkeley and Community Activist
