An organization plans to publish a list on April 24th revealing names of corporations that had pledged gifts for the Sichuan earthquake on May 12, 2008 but which have not fulfilled on their promise. CNY 100 billion, both corporate and personal, were promised but many were not fulfilled. Here's some more info from ChinaCSR:
Liu Jing, the deputy director of the China Association of Social Workers, has told local media that the 2009 China Charity List will soon be released and, for the first time, it will reveal the names of companies that had promised to make donations but failed to do so.
According to Liu, Chinese companies actively donated to the disaster relief efforts following the Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008, with total donations, both corporate and personal, of more than CNY100 billion. However, some companies which had pledged to donate have not yet fulfilled their promise.
It is learned that the department compiling the list will blacklist these companies for their inefficiency and announce their names to the public and media to urge them to keep their promises.
The 2009 China Charity List will be published on April 24, 2009.
April 29, 2009 Update: my sources tell me that the list has been cancelled but with no details.
