Many young Asian Americans are getting involved in their community - whether it is through volunteerism, raising funds, or giving their own money away. Philanthropy is no longer a trend but a manifestation of the entrenched desire to do more and be more for young APIs. Unfortunately, we do not have a formal mechanism to recognize these efforts - until now.
The Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) in partnership with Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) is seeking nominations for young individuals and organizations that have exemplified outstanding support for the Asian Pacific Islander community through leadership and philanthropic efforts. Two individuals and two organizations awards will be presented at the 2nd Annual Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy Recognition Awards to be held in early March. Nomination forms can be submitted online before 5 pm on January 25, 2010.
* Distinguished leader in philanthropy (ages 18-23) and (ages 24-30)

The Asian Pacific Community Fund is a community-based fund that was created to fulfill a need for a unified effort to educate and encourage donors to support the needs of Asian Pacific Islanders in Los Angeles. APCF has raised and distributed $1.5 million to affiliate agencies.
