Friends of Asian American Giving,
Five years ago, I started Asian American Giving to curate the very little philanthropic conversations occurring in the Asian American community. I covered a broad range of topics: issues in the community, large and small Asian American donors, and research or topics that were relevant to the discussion in the philanthropic sector. There were many successes along the way - especially in serving as a resource to reporters looking for information about our community.
But now it is time for me to shift my attention to our new business, Kordant Philanthropy Advisors. The Asian American philanthropic conversation will always be important and, rather than abandoning this work, we are leveraging the research capability of Kordant to produce and promote more in-depth research in this area. Here are just some of the things you can look forward to from Kordant:
* Asian Philanthropy Forum. A sister blog of AAG, it will cover stories in Asian American philanthropy, work being done in Asia, and general trends in the philanthropic sector. To continue receiving email subscriptions about the newest trends in philanthropy, please continue your subscription of AAG through APF here.
* Benchmark reports on Asian American diaspora philanthropy. On the horizon are a study on Chinese American philanthropy, done in partnership with the Chinese American Community Foundation and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation; and Vietnamese American philanthropy, the first institutional report of its kind.
* Case studies and surveys of regional organizations serving Asian Americans. For example, we will soon be launching a survey of Asian American giving circles and community foundations as well as a case study on the merger of two Oakland Chinatown-based organizations.
Thank you for your interest, time, and attention. I hope you will continue to join me in bringing stories about our community to light. Please visit Kordant and sign up to receive updates about our new ventures.
