Art of Philanthropy and the Indian Diaspora. Individual NRIs (non-resident Indians) have set up charities in Britain to fund charitable programs in India. Donations are given to organizations where there is a personal link through family or friends since donors want feedback on how the donation was utilized. However, not all donor experiences have been pleasant. The article also talks about the perception of corruption, lack of transparency, and bureaucratic issues.

Article in VietnamNet that provides several statistics: (1) number of overseas Vietnamese companies created last year in Ho Chi Minh City was 528; with a tota capital of 144.5 million USD; (2) 2,344 overseas Vietnamese completed procedures to confirm their Vietnamese origin in order to operate under the Domestic Investment Law; (3) of these, Vietnamese Amerians accounted for 50% and Vietnamese-Europeans accounted for 30%; (4) Remittances from overseas Vietnamese via the banking system amounted to $2.7 million.
